Terms & Conditions

Last updated: July 29, 2026

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Halo safety companion app ("Halo" or the "Service"), operated by BMEC Products ("we", "us"). By creating an account, subscribing, or otherwise using Halo, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Who you are contracting with

You are entering into an agreement with BMEC Products. If you are using Halo on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organization. If you are an individual, you confirm that you are of legal age to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction.

2. The Service

Halo is a personal safety companion offering features such as a watch button, real-time location sharing with contacts you select, ghost chat, community reports, safe-route guidance, and AI-generated nighttime crime insights. Halo is a supplemental tool. Halo is not a substitute for emergency services. In an emergency, always contact local emergency services directly.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date. Notify us immediately of any unauthorised access.

4. Acceptable use

You will not:

  • use Halo unlawfully or to facilitate fraud, harassment, stalking, or spam;
  • share content that infringes intellectual property or privacy rights;
  • interfere with the security or integrity of the Service (e.g. malware, probing, scraping, reverse engineering);
  • resell, redistribute, or circumvent technical limits of the Service; or
  • submit false emergency reports.

5. AI features

Halo's night crime insights are generated by AI models. Outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out-of-date and are provided for general informational purposes only. Do not rely on AI outputs as professional, legal, medical, or safety advice. You are responsible for your prompts, for verifying accuracy, and for how you act on outputs. We may filter, restrict, or refuse outputs, and we may suspend accounts for abuse. Rights-holders may submit takedown requests through our contact channel.

6. Intellectual property

BMEC Products retains all right, title, and interest in the Service, including software, documentation, and branding. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Halo within your selected plan. Content you submit remains yours; you grant us a limited license to host and process it solely to provide the Service.

7. Payments, subscriptions, and Merchant of Record

Halo Premium is offered on a subscription basis with a free trial and recurring monthly billing after the trial. Prices are shown on the Pricing page.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

Payment, billing, taxes, renewal, cancellation, and refund mechanics are governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms at paddle.com/legal/checkout-buyer-terms. See also our Refund Policy.

8. Service availability

We work hard to keep Halo reliable, but we do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

9. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, BMEC Products' aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these Terms is capped at the fees you paid to Paddle for Halo in the 12 months prior to the claim. We exclude liability for indirect, consequential, or special damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

10. Indemnity

You will indemnify BMEC Products for third-party claims arising out of your content, your unlawful use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms.

11. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access for material breach, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious policy violations. You may cancel your subscription and delete your account at any time from the Account screen. On termination, your right to use the Service ends and we will delete or anonymise your account data as described in our Privacy Notice.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which BMEC Products is established, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction, unless mandatory local law provides otherwise.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified in-app or by email. Continued use of Halo after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

14. Force majeure & assignment

Neither party is liable for delays caused by events beyond reasonable control. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

15. Contact
